Miss Universe Great Britain 2018 is from Anguilla

Dee-Ann Kentish Rogers, 25, a student in Birmingham, and from Anguilla, of which she is the miss 2017-2018, was crowned Miss Universe Great Britain 2018. She is the first black woman to win this title.

Founded in 1952, Miss Universe UK is a female beauty pageant reserved for young women from the UK wishing to represent their country in Miss Universe pageant. She was one of 32 contestants who took to the stage to compete for the Miss Universe GB crown at the Riverfront in Newport on Saturday, July 14.

“Dee-Ann is a law graduate from the University of Birmingham and will become a lawyer this month. Besides being a beauty queen and lawyer, Dee-Ann is also an accomplished athlete who has competed in the Commonwealth Games twice. She ran the 400 meters in India in 2010 and competed in the heptathlon in Scotland in 2014.

Of Anguillian origin, she spends her time between the United Kingdom and the island which is a British overseas territory in the Caribbean. The Anguilla Tourist Office was also its sponsor for the event, ”indicates the organizing committee on its website.

The Anguilla government, and in particular the management and members of the Social Security Board of which she is the miss 2017-2018, hailed this victory: "She is not only the first black woman to win this title, but also the first to be from Anguilla ”.

She will represent Great Britain in the 2018 Miss Universe election.
