The island of Anguilla is virtually under wraps for the next two weeks due to a new case of Covid-19 recorded in a resident who had links to two other people also positive for Covid-19. Governor Dileeni Daniel Selvaratnam and Prime Minister Ellis Lorenzo Webster announced the new restrictions, which went into effect at midnight on April 22.

The three people with Covid-19 are in quarantine while the tracing of contact cases is carried out and an investigation is conducted into how the person was infected. As of midnight April 22, ports have been closed to all inbound passengers, but cargo will still be allowed. Those who wished to leave the island received permission from the authorities. While elected officials are trying to curb contamination, the vaccination campaign is accelerating in Anguilla. 6000 people received their first injection and 1000 the second. _AF
