In Saint Martin, seven cases of Zika have been biologically confirmed, including a pregnant woman. Saint-Barthélemy is spared for the moment. The epidemiological situation of the Northern Islands is closely monitored by the health authorities, the Community and the State who declare war on mosquitoes.
Zika management committees are organized regularly to discuss communication and fight against the virus. Last Wednesday, the various actors met at the Louis Constant Fleming hospital, under the chairmanship of the prefect Anne Laubies. The next day, the management committee was organized in Saint-Barthélemy. The ARS recalls that “everyone is invited to seek the advice and support of their agents in the fight against breeding sites around homes, closing water tanks and supplying golomine fish predatory of larvae intended for the protection of tanks ”.
Zika: prevention and protection
The communication campaign for the attention of the population and tourists is therefore under way: a first distribution of "Zika, the fight resumes" flyers summarizing prevention measures has been carried out in medical offices. By the end of the month, this document will be widely distributed in the French, English and Spanish versions.
