The St. Maarten Nature Foundation is not optimistic about sargassum strandings. Basing itself in particular on data by satellite, the institution estimates that the risk of a new invasion of algae is very real: that could even involve the closing of certain beaches. The foundation says it will inform the authorities if there is an imminent risk of a large influx of algae.
