Les Voiles de Saint-Barth Richard Mille A breathtaking finish!

Remarkable boats, a fleet rich in diversity, efficient crews, colorful courses: this is the DNA of Les Voiles de St. Barth Richard Mille, designed in 2010 by François Tolède and Luc Poupon. The almost perfect weather conditions, the fight on all floors and in all categories and the suspense even in the last races will have marked this anniversary edition supported by an exceptional sponsor. On land, a rich and varied entertainment program has won over sailors and the local population. Everything was in place to make this 10th edition an exceptional event! Here's what to remember.

Two major novelties were offered this year at Les Voiles de St. Barth Ricard Mille. First, the organizers decided to make a commitment to make the event as eco-responsible, ethical and responsible as possible. Various actions have thus been put in place to strive towards zero plastic, offer local and responsible catering, raise awareness among runners to change behavior and carry out actions with schools.

On the racing side, it was decided to switch from the CSA (Caribbean Sailing Association) gauge to the IRC gauge, an international racing gauge recognized by World Sailing, for the Maxi in order to standardize the circuit. Both were greeted with great enthusiasm.

SHS Scallywag and Fujin winners of the Richard Mille Record Trophy

Friday, the fourth day of racing, Maxi and Multihulls had an appointment for the Richard Mille Record Trophy with one goal: to achieve the best possible time on a 34-mile course between the islands of Saint-Barth and Saint-Martin. Propelled by an easterly flow blowing between 18 and 21 knots, they swallowed up the distance at high speed, thus setting nice times: 2 hours 33 minutes and 53 seconds for SHK Scallywag, David Witt's Dowell 100 for monohulls , and 2 hours 36 minutes and 33 seconds for Fujin, Greg Slyngstad's Bieker 53, for multihulls.

Sorcha's crew, led by Briton Peter Harrison, won the Richard Mille Maxi Cup after finishing at the top of the general Maxi classification (Maxi 1 and Maxi 2), succeeding the Proteus team.

Pierre Casiraghi, a godfather exceptional for this 10th edition

Since their creation in 2010, the Voiles de St. Barth Richard Mille have seen the most prestigious sponsors succeed one another. For this 10th edition of the event, Pierre Casiraghi, member of the Monaco royal family, vice-president of the Yacht Club de Monaco and partner Richard Mille,  associated his name and image with the event. An event that he particularly enjoyed, on land and on the water, and during which he successfully raced aboard the Maxi 72 Sorcha.

Nine handsome winners

This year, nine crews have registered - or re-registered - their names in the prestigious list of Voiles de St. Barth Richard Mille: Sorcha of Peter Harrison in Maxi 1, Windfall of Michael Cotter in Maxi 2, Kuka 3 of Franco Niggeler in CSA 1, Summer Storm by Andy Berdon in CSA 2, Lazy Dog by Sergio Sagramoso in CSA 3, Liquid by Pamala Baldwin in CSA 4, Crédit Mutuel - SGS by Claude Granel and Marc Emig in CSA 5, Guyader Gastronomie by Christian Guyader in Multi IMHRR then Fujin by Greg Slyngstad in Multi ORCmh. Congratulations to them!
