Sargassum under surveillance

0

The services of the Department of Environment, Planning and Housing (DEAL) of Guadeloupe have recently observed “an increase in the frequency and volume of strandings” of Sargassum on the coasts of Guadeloupe. For the moment, the offshore seaweed beds are of moderate size, according to the regional prefecture. Anticipating future strandings, such is the wish of the prefect Jacques Billant. The actors concerned will meet regularly in order to “optimize the management of available resources”. The health watch service, managed by the Regional Health Agency (ARS), has also been reactivated. Note that a new public market - bids closing on Friday - will be awarded for their monitoring by remote sensing off the West Indies.
