The difficulties encountered by the Americans to come to Saint-Martin

Americans are in love with the friendly island and are loyal. Many had shown their support after Irma's visit by returning to stay there as soon as possible. With the covid-19 crisis, they had to cancel their stay or postpone it. Since the start of the crisis, many have also followed the development and expressed the desire to come back. Some are already, others prefer to plan to come only next year for several reasons "to protect the island" they say.

Some are also uncertain. According to comments on social media, not all labs guarantee to deliver PCR test results in less than 72 hours, making it difficult for Americans to book tickets.

They must also take into account the very restricted flight plans of airlines that do not fill the planes enough to ensure their profitability. And especially for several days, Americans have been facing the cancellations of their flights which seem to be more and more frequent.

“I had a flight with Jet Blue from JFK (New York, editor's note), it has just been canceled because my return was scheduled for a Wednesday, or Jet Blue no longer provides rotations on Wednesdays. If I wanted to change my return to leave on Saturday, which is the day Jet Blue flies, I had to pay extra. So I preferred to cancel and reschedule my trip for next year, ”explains an American in a group on Facebook.

“We had booked for October 24 to come 2 weeks. After modifying the flight, Delta ultimately canceled it.

We thus took a ticket on United. We are however worried about whether we will be able to get the test results on time, ”a couple commented on the same Facebook page.

“Last Monday, our flights scheduled for October 31 and November 13 with Delta were canceled. We are not going to try to book other flights, we will be coming next year. (…) Delta canceled my flight from Philadelphia on November 11. (…) My flights scheduled for November 9 and 18 with Delta have been canceled. (…) Delta canceled our departure on October 30, ”report other Americans, disappointed. “We finally decided not to come because there are too many constraints, conditions, uncertainties. Two trips have been canceled this year, we will come next year ”, confides another couple.

Based on these comments left every day, many Americans will not be coming on vacation to the island by the end of the year. The start of the tourist season promises to be difficult. (soualigapost.com)
