The sanitary facilities at Aline Hanson School have been leaking repeatedly for several weeks, due to the dilapidated nature of the facilities.

The school was forced to close its doors Thursday following a leak on the first floor of the building during the meridian break, the Community having requested the immediate intervention of a plumber.

The latter began its work the same day, a reinforced team was deployed throughout the rest of last week. For health security reasons, the school remained closed on Friday 11 June. The goal is to make urgent repairs for the children to return to school on Monday 14  June.

The COM wants to repair these leaks as quickly as possible to complete the school year and subsequently initiate a more substantial project which consists of rehabilitating the sanitary facilities. It will be the same in other schools presenting problems of this type.

In addition, the Collectivity plans to intervene in July and August in schools, in order to carry out additional work to the renovation work already carried out in recent years in the 18 establishments of Saint-Martin. A schedule covering all the urgent interventions to be carried out in the school park is being drawn up in conjunction with the heads of establishments and will be presented to them by the end of June.

The Sustainable Development delegation is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of this work in conjunction with the technical service teams and the companies providing services to the Collectivity. The projects consist of bringing them into conformity and additional work in the schools concerned.
