The vaccination campaign against covid-19 meets in the French part of the island a timid success. According to the latest figures from the regional health agency released Tuesday, 9 doses have been injected since mid January. 990 people are fully vaccinated and 3 have received a first dose of vaccine. The number of first dose injected is 290 per week for the last three weeks.

For cultural and / or religious reasons, a large part of the population refuses to be vaccinated: some are against vaccines in general, others are convinced that they can be treated only with alternative medicine, and finally others consider that strongly recommending them to be vaccinated is an attack on their freedoms.

Open on May 4, the vaccinodrome installed in Galisbay accommodates less than 100 people per day while its capacity is 300 to 400. “This structure provides a lot of flexibility since you can go there without an appointment, unlike the hospital where you have to make an appointment. However, the vaccinodrome is temporary, ”comments the regional director of the ARS, recalling that the vaccine used is Pfizer.

On the Dutch side, nearly 15 people are already fully vaccinated, that is to say, they have received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine. Since the start of the campaign in mid February, 000 doses have been administered. Last week 34 doses were administered, both first and second doses.

A total of 44 doses were administered throughout the island.
