“Due to developments linked to the variants of COVID-19, the decree of February 12, 2021 now makes it compulsory to wear a surgical or general public mask with a filtration capacity of 90% (former category 1 general public mask ) for elementary school students. This obligation applies from the day of the start of the carnival holidays ”, specifies the Academy of Guadeloupe in a press release.
This concerns the Guadeloupe regional academy and all the overseas departments-regions and overseas communities.
Thus, from today, all students from the preparatory course are required to wear a mask in confined spaces as in outdoor spaces of the school establishment. Kindergarten students are still exempt from it.
As for middle and high schools, it is up to parents to provide masks to their children and it is reminded that they cannot be homemade masks.
The rector of the academic region recalls that the wearing of a mask is therefore compulsory for all in elementary schools and schools as part of a process of protection of staff, students and their families to which all members of the educational community must compete.
