Rear Admiral Nicolas Lambropoulos takes the helm of the Armed Forces in the West Indies

On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, Rear Admiral (CA) Nicolas Lambropoulos assumed command of the Armed Forces in the West Indies. He succeeds Rear Admiral Éric Aymard.

After his training at the Naval Academy from 1994 to 1997, CA Lambropoulos chose to serve in the submarine forces where he completed 27.000 hours of diving. Mainly focused on operations, his career has also been punctuated by staff assignments. His operational career, marked by four commands at sea, has enabled him to develop a strong knowledge of the theaters of operations in the Atlantic, Mediterranean and Indian Ocean and the issues associated with them. It was also an opportunity to exercise its expertise in the fields of nuclear power and project management, in particular during the supervision, in cooperation with NavalGroup and the state contracting authority, of the end of the major refit of the SNA Casabianca. In general staff, he had the opportunity to develop skills in the fields of human resources, communication and politico-military relations thanks to positions as director of a promotion of a hundred cadets, in charge of supervising their military, human, maritime and scientific training at the École Navale from 2006 to 2008, in the office of the Chief of Defense Staff, as deputy spokesperson and responsible for leading the operational communication notably during the start of operations Sangaris, Barkhane and Chammal from 2014 to 2015 or to the staff of the SNLE squadron to direct the training and qualification of crews in 2015. CA Lambropoulos has been, since August 2019, auditor of the 69th session of the CHEM (Centre for Advanced Military Studies) and the 72nd session of the IHEDN (Institute for Advanced National Defense Studies). Before being assigned to the Armed Forces in the West Indies, CA Lambropoulos exercised since 2020 the functions of Deputy to the Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic. _VX
