The population has three new health trails in Saint-Martin!

As part of its prevention policy on the risks linked to overweight, the Collectivity of Saint-Martin launched, last August, the realization of three sports health trails on the territory, a project piloted by the Solidarity Pole and Families under the aegis of Ramona Connor, Vice-President.

This action is part of the Local Health Contract, which was contracted with the Regional Health Agency (ARS), in December 2014.

These public facilities are intended to fight against overweight and prevent cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity and high blood pressure, through local sports and free access.

In view of the challenges and the strong objectives of this project linked to sport and health, the Saint-Martin community has identified 3 geographic sites likely to meet the criteria of attendance, readability and access sought. The sites chosen are Galisbay / Bord de mer, Concordia / Médiathèque, as well as the Nature Reserve path linking Spring / Quartier d'Orléans to Galion beach, on the bay of the mouth. An agreement has been signed with the coastal conservatory and the nature reserve for the occupation of the plot concerned.

The development work on the Concordia and Galion routes is now complete and these two routes are already available to the public. The Galisbay / seaside course is being installed.

A financial envelope of € 150 has been allocated to these achievements by the Collectivity of Saint-Martin, which must receive an exceptional contribution of € 000 from ARS, an essential partner in terms of the challenges.

Ultimately, the fitness trails will allow all audiences, from adolescence, to practice sports (bodybuilding, gymnastics, etc.) in a natural space. Different apparatus of graduated difficulty will allow strength training and stretching exercises that can be carried out individually or with others to mix with a walk or a jog._AF
