JUSTICE: He gets checked by the gendarmes while trying the turbo of a car

While carrying out a roadside check at the end of June last year, the gendarmes signaled a motorist to stop but he refused, continued to drive and stopped later.

The gendarmes control the vehicle and its driver. It turns out that the forty-year-old driver AS does not have a French driving license but only a document issued in Trinidad of which he is a native, and that he has not taken out insurance. The number plates of the car do not match the vehicle.

At the bar of the local court of Saint-Martin before which he appeared on May 20, AS explains that he works in a garage in Quartier d'Orléans and that this day he was installing or checking the turbo on his car and that he had gone to try it. To do this, he had borrowed the license plates of a car from a client.

AS was accused of refusing to obey a gendarmerie check, of driving a car without insurance and without a license, of theft and of having usurped license plates.

After deliberation, the court acquitted AS of the charges of theft and lack of insurance. On the other hand, he was found guilty of the other charges and sentenced to a two-month suspended prison sentence.
