JUSTICE: He returns to Saint-Martin when he is prohibited from French territory

0

In March 2014, a 21-year-old native of Guyana was sentenced by the Criminal Court of Saint Martin to a three-year prison sentence and a ban on staying on French territory for three years for stealing a scooter and pointed a snack at Quartier d'Orléans. He appealed and a new trial took place in Guadeloupe; the Basse-Terre Court of Appeal confirmed the judgment.

Upon his release from prison, he was notified that he was free and had to leave Guadeloupe, France on his own. He still tried to return to Saint-Martin. He therefore flew to Pointe-à-Pitre for Grand Case. Neither on departure nor on arrival, he was seen during identity checks that he appeared in the file of persons prohibited from staying in France. Obviously, there was a lack of communication between the authorities. The youngster spent several months in Saint-Martin before being arrested again for pointing the owner of a scooter. He was convicted by the courts, which this time pronounced a definitive ban on stay in France. He was incarcerated last Friday at the prison of Basse-Terre. (Source: www.soualigapost.com)
