VR, 47, was presented for immediate appearance Wednesday, April 3 before the Saint-Martin criminal court for breaking and entering 152 glasses frames from an optician on rue Kennedy and a smartphone, on January 15.

VR entered the store at 6 a.m., after tearing off the mechanical shutter and smashing the window at the back of the store. He cut himself when it burst, and left traces of blood on the walls when he left the premises which allowed investigators to find his DNA. His criminal record comprising 17 convictions, most of them relating to drugs and theft, he was easily identified and arrested on March 30. During his search, the gendarmes found the stolen smartphone on him in the store. He denied the facts at first, but eventually admitted to them when informed that his DNA had been collected at the scene. “It was not premeditated. I was next door smoking crack when I saw it would be easy. I did not need to force "he explains from the box of the accused. On the other hand, he disputes the quantity of stolen glasses. If the civil party, represented by a lawyer, estimates his material damage at more than 15 euros for 000 frames, speaks to him of 152. In a state of legal recidivism following a conviction in 51 for identical facts by the court of Charleville, he begs the court for mercy. For the prosecution, this immediate appearance was important "to protect public order and businesses in Saint-Martin which do not need a theft specialist like Mr. R.". It requires twelve months in prison and continued detention. After deliberation, the court sentences VR to eight months in prison and orders continued detention. A civil interest referral was requested for the victim.
