GOLF: SINT-MAARTEN HONORED ON BARDADE: The selection of St. Maarten wins in several categories

BARBADOS: The team of “St Maarten Golf” achieved a beautiful harvest of trophies during the annual meetings of the East Caribbean Golf Association (ECGA) which took place this year at the Barbados Golf Club, the 1er October weekend.

This year 7 Caribbean islands were represented in this very tough tournament. The best golfers from Barbados, Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, St. Croix, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia and St. Maarten competed against each other on this beautiful and highly technical Barbados Golf Course.

It was the host team Barbados, who won the BRUT team combined title with a total of 1235 points. In the NET team combined, after deduction of the total handicaps, it is the  Sint Maarten Golf Association which won with a total of 1201 points.

The St Maarten team consisted of the following 12 players:

Ladies: Oli Tinitali, Gitte

Poulsen and Anne-Marie Bouillé

Men: Jesus Rivera, Andy Holmes, Marc van Iersel and Oliver Hobgood

Seniors: Tony Lake, Sam Bashir and Jan Peter Holtland

Super-Seniors: Keith Graham and Jean Paul Clerc

In addition to the team success, two players from St. Maarten stood out. Oliver Hobgood won in Men NET with a score of 143 over the 2 days, and Jan Peter Holtland also won in Seniors NET with a score of 141.

Congratulations to all the participants who brilliantly represented golf at St-Marteen / St-Martin.

 

Next golf meeting:

The Concordia Cup on November 9 and 10 with 12 SMGA players who will face 12 “Tamarins” in match play, in the same format as the famous Ryder Cup. Last year the SMGA narrowly won 15 to 13 so this year the Tamarins will have  at heart to bring back the Jason Nyuiadzi Trophy in the French part. 9 years already ...
