In Saint-Martin, time flies! Three months already, day for day, arrived the 1st company of gendarmes reservists, CRT1, in reinforcement of the units deployed on the island of Saint-Martin.
73 reservists from all walks of life, all regions, former army officers, civilians ... who after having responded to the national call for volunteers and been selected, gave of their person to come and help the populations of the areas disaster victims and participated in the protection of their fellow citizens on the spot.
A first !
It was the first company of reservists to be projected outside the metropolitan territory and for such a long duration. Arrived in a degraded context, they were able to adapt to the difficult conditions of the beginnings. Immediately integrated into the security system set up on Saint-Martin, they produced security for the benefit of Saint-Martinois.
A duty accomplished
The soldiers of the CRT 92/1 can thus leave with the feeling of having accomplished their duty, carrying in their package many memories and the experience of an extraordinary mission ...
General Anne Fougerat, commander and delegate to the gendarmerie reserves, welcomed them last Friday at Orly airport. She thanked them for their strong commitment, their sense of solidarity and duty.
