Training of 18 new recruits with the Companion builders

The LA FAC training center welcomed nine learners for the day last week. Freshly recruited by the Building Companions who repair the roofs of the most precarious victims of Irma, they followed a training course on work at height and the R430-R431 regulation, given by David Chinama, from AFC (Antilles training controls) based in Martinique.

"This is basic training, compulsory for working at height, which allows you to learn the regulations and how to use personal protective equipment (PPE) to avoid falling" explains the trainer. He specifies however that on a construction site, it is always necessary to give priority to collective protection equipment such as nacelles, scaffolding, railings, surface nets etc. The Building Companions ensure that it is a point of honor to comply with collective security standards. PPE (helmet with chin strap, harness, gloves, safety shoes, lanyards and double lanyards ...) come after.

At the end of the day, those who have passed the written test (a MCQ of twenty questions) and the practical tests (reading the lanyards, how to adjust and wear your harness, tie the knots…), and who will have been declared fit to work by the trainer (absence of vertigo in particular) will receive an authorization.
