FOOTBALL: Desperately looking for field (s)!

0

One month after the visit to the island of the great boss of French football, Noël Le Graët, football lovers in Saint-Martin are still unemployed. Until when ?

During the visit of the President of the French Football Federation (FFF), Daniel Gibbs recalled the very strong relationship that the population and the youth of Saint Martin maintain with sport in general, and football in particular, which is the discipline with the most members on the territory (note: 845 licensees and 150 practitioners in 2017 against 345 licensees in 2016).

For his part, Noël Le Graët was clear on the subject: "the main objective is to allow young people to replay football as quickly as possible and in the best conditions", before adding "the federation will be 100% concentrated on the renewal of the practice of Foot in Saint-Martin and will exclude "all expenses intended for displacements or notoriety operations".

An aid fund created by all of French football (FondaCtion) has raised € 500 for the rehabilitation of infrastructure and thus contribute to the renewal of football in the Northern Islands.

As a reminder, funding for the “FondaCtion” comes from football bodies, including the French Football Federation (FFF), the Professional Football League (LFP) and private sponsors who are benefactors.

After the beautiful words, make way for actions ...

On the side of the League of Saint Martin, a meeting was organized recently in the presence of the president of the Technical Commission, Aristide Connors, the technical adviser, Hervé Happy and several club leaders: La Juventus de Saint-Martin, United Stars, Saint-Louis Stars, Junior Stars and FC Flamingo. One single question came back to the carpet: when will football resume, especially among young people?

In the end, no concrete response was given to the leaders and educators of the various clubs, the League having no ground to revive football activity on the island. Access to the stadiums of Sandy Ground (Albéric Richards), Quartier d'Orléans (Thelbert Carti) and Marigot (Jean-Louis Vanterpool), is always prohibited until further notice, a decision taken by the Collective for reasons of security.

In conclusion, the resumption of football in Saint-Martin is still not topical, far from it!

Unless the Community decides to take the problem head on ...  _AF
