After Irma's visit, Jane and David were sorry to observe the damage done to nature beyond the material damage. So she wished with her companion David, to participate in the replanting of palm trees. This is how SXM Cap Project was born.

The couple had the idea of creating caps bearing the image of Saint-Martin and devoting part of the profits to the purchase of trees. "The cap was for us the ideal product, the perfect souvenir of a vacation, a fashion accessory or even a rallying mark for the project," he says. The famous SXM letters are embroidered on the front of the cap and the project logo is placed on the visor.

Jane and David took advantage of their company specializing in the design of personalized products to lead this project. They buy and produce the caps themselves and then resell them to distributors, in other words shops.

At the launch in early 2019, the cap was available in three colors, black and white, white and black and blue and white, today ten models are available. They are available in several shops on the island, partly in France and in the Netherlands.

The first sales and therefore the first profits made it possible to replant in March 2019 five palm trees on the beach of Friar's Bay and three on that of Mullet Bay in September. "We have the budget to plant others but are waiting for authorization to be able to plant them on the public domain," says Jane. Indeed, if at the very beginning the idea was to replant coconut palms on the beaches, today Jane and David would also like to be able to participate in the planting of trees along the roads ... "Having palm trees along the road that leads to the Grand Case road, would be beautiful! They say to themselves. (soualigapost.com)
