Employment: 138 CDI threatened in La Samanna?

0

Wednesday, January 31, around 7 a.m., part of the employees of the Belmond-La Samanna hotel paraded through the streets of Marigot before going to the prefecture and then to the COM. At their request, the State, the Collectivity and the labor inspectorate will arbitrate a meeting between the employee representatives and the management of Samanna in mid-February.

Since the passage of Irma, the 149 employees have been put into partial activity. But on January 19, four members of the Works Council therefore went to Samanna for a meeting to which they were summoned by their management. “They announced the dismissal of 138 employees. They want to fire us and then take us back on a fixed-term contract. The EC has three months to give its opinion. But of course we are not going to say yes ”reports Franki Lainez.

Contacted by email, the hotel management confirmed that "a meeting was held with the members of the Works Council, the representative body of La Samanna staff."

But it remains vague as to the jobs threatened: “The hotel is studying with the Council the potential reorganization of the current economic model of La Samanna. The objective is to ensure its long-term economic viability and the maintenance of local employment opportunities on the island once the hotel has been renovated and reopened. The parameters of the proposals remain subject to consultation with the Works Council. We cannot therefore make any other comments. ”
