TERRITORIAL ELECTIONS: Victory hands down for Louis Mussington!

Louis Mussington leader of the Rassemblement Saint-Martinois list won the territorial elections on Sunday evening by collecting 49% of the votes cast.

After Daniel Gibbs announced the results, Louis Mussington arrived on stage surrounded by his team. He spoke to the dozens of Saint-Martinoises and Saint-Martinois in front of the Hôtel de la Collectivité in English, French and Creole. “It is the victory of our beautiful island of Saint-Martin. You will not be disappointed because we will get to work on Monday,” he said. "There will be work to do but I will trust the 23 members of the territorial council," he added. In the three languages, he thanked the people who had voted for him and called for unity.

Louis Mussington will become president of the COM next Sunday during an official ceremony. The first secretary of the Federation of Socialists of Guadeloupe congratulated the victory of Louis Mussington. “He is an authentic left-wing man with whom the socialists of Guadeloupe have long walked who takes on the responsibilities of the Collectivity,” he said in a press release.

*The list led by Louis Mussington came first in the second round of territorial elections with 49,06% of the votes cast, or 4 votes.

Team Gibbs obtained 33,37% of the votes cast, or 3 votes.
