Following deliberations taken by the Territorial Council of Saint-Martin and its Water and Sanitation Establishment, on May 15, 2018, the President of the community, Daniel Gibbs, the President of the EEASM, Dominique Riboud, the Director General of Générale des Eaux, Cyril De Vomécourt and the Director General of UCDEM Gérard Canton, signed, on Thursday, May 24, the memorandum of understanding formalizing the amicable termination of contracts for the production of water and the delegation of services drinking water and sanitation services on the territory of Saint-Martin.
This agreement provides for the disengagement of Générale des Eaux and the UCDEM on November 30, and guarantees that all of the local employees will be transferred to the future operator chosen after a competitive bidding procedure.
This procedure was launched today, with a twofold objective for the Collectivity: the selection of a new single actor, and the eventual reduction of the price of the water distributed to Saint Martinois.
