The establishment of the Territorial Scientific Council for Natural Heritage in each region is made compulsory by law for the recovery of biodiversity, nature and landscapes. The prefecture had launched a call for candidates at the beginning of the year to create that of Saint-Martin

On June 13, the prefect sent the list of members retained to the president of the COM who had to suggest it to the elected officials of the territorial council for validation as required by the procedure.

Meeting in plenary session Wednesday morning, it is almost unanimously that the twenty-two elected representatives present or representatives abstained, only Jean-Raymond Benjamin voted against the approval of this list.

“We don't know these people except for one [Anne-Marie Bouillé who worked in the COM environment service, editor's note]. To give an opinion to this list does not make sense if we do not know the people, ”commented Jules Charville, territorial adviser to the opposition. Bernadette Davis, also a member of the opposition, believes that it is "up to us [Saint-Martinois, editor's note] to choose these advisers because we live here, we know them better than [the State]".
