If you ask Loïc Ouled who is behind the Atelier Olda brand to define his profession, he will answer you “digital craftsman”. For some, these two terms are simply contradictory and yet Loïc has succeeded in creating his own identity by marrying pure and hard craftsmanship with the technological tools of his choice.
As far as we are concerned here, it is a laser cutting and engraving machine. On the strength of his apprenticeship in carpentry and his training in 3D design, Loïc, a cabinetmaker by trade, decided to create his own company whose name, Atelier Olda, soon gained a serious reputation on the island of Saint-Martin.
By investing in a quality machine, Loïc is able to cut and engrave on all media except PVC. Wood, metal, glass, resin, packaging, with or without paint, nothing can stop the creator with multiple ideas.
Loïc creates the pattern on a computer (of his own creation or on order) to then transfer the engraving request to the machine. The laser is a system of three light points that can cut up to 6 to 7 millimeters on certain materials. And it is when the intensity is reduced that it is possible to burn instead of cutting. Atelier Olda aims to offer unique products, and above all customizable: key rings (with the effigy of the territory's cult places and beaches), magnets, bottle openers, coasters, cutting and tapas boards, letters (with 6 layers of cardboard packaging), glasses… and even cigars! And Loïc does not intend to stop there. To crown this remarkable initiative, the majority of the materials used come from recoveries, recycling being an integral part of Atelier Olda's DNA. Saint-Martin can now boast of having, thanks to the Atelier Olda, a panel of souvenir objects as atypical as they are original, and above all accessible to all budgets.
