Tourism professions in the spotlight: Meeting with Jean-Mark Chance, intern at the Tourist Office

Attracted by the design of tourism products, Jean-Mark Chance turned to a BTS Tourism after obtaining his baccalaureate.

The young man has just completed a 3-week internship at the Tourist Office, carried out as part of his studies. Assigned to the local and regional promotion department, he was able to work on various files including the establishment of an outing schedule for Tourism classes, the development of a questionnaire for 15-25 year olds, the creation of '' an educational tour for agencies in Guadeloupe and Martinique, or the follow-up of a competition file for “Tourism Awareness” products.

"We are proud to see the fruit of our work take shape after 8 years of work in the field with our partners," said Gregoire Dumel, head of the local and regional market at the Tourist Office. "We wish him good luck for the rest of his studies and especially for the exams which will begin in 2 months to obtain his BTS Tourism".

After having validated his diploma, Jean-Mark Chance plans to continue his studies in the same way by integrating a new school.

In fact, this young student from Saint-Martin has been destined for the tourism industry for a long time since in 2014, he was part of the tourism class at Soualiga college for two years. This project set up within establishments on the island is the result of a tripartite agreement (Saint-Martin Tourist Office, Saint-Martin Collectivity and National Education) which today meets the will of the Office of Tourism to sensitize the entire population to the importance of the tourism industry. A teaching that gave this young trainee the desire to continue in this direction. “It's an area that has always interested me, since the first intervention that was made in college,” he recalls.
