Annick Girardin, Minister of Overseas Territories, and Jean-François Delfraissy, President of the Covid-19 Scientific Council, today held a videoconference with the 7 prefects of the French overseas departments and territories of the Atlantic Ocean and Indian Ocean basins : Guadeloupe, Guyana, Martinique, Mayotte, Reunion, Saint-Barthélemy, Saint-Martin, Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon.
This first exchange allowed the prefects to expose the specific situations with which the different territories are confronted and to evoke subjects as diverse as the behavior of the virus in tropical environment, the tests, the confinement and the concern of the fragile people.
The president of the scientific council Covid-19 was thus able to share current knowledge on the virus and on the evolution of the pandemic, to become aware of the current situation of the overseas territories and to appreciate the initiatives which are developed there.
« With Professor Delfraissy and the prefects, we discussed the appropriate responses to bring today and tomorrow to fight against the coronavirus in the territories » declares Annick Girardin, Minister of Overseas.
