Covid-19: Vaccination has been slowed down for several months

0

Almost a year and a half after the launch of the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 in France, less than half of the population over the age of 12 has a complete primary vaccination in Saint-Martin. By mid-July, 49,4% of this population had received at least two doses. The proportion having received at least one dose is a little larger and amounts to 52,4%. The 50% mark was crossed in April and has been growing slowly ever since.

If one of the reasons why many people had refused to be vaccinated at the start of the campaign was the very nature of the vaccine (messenger RNA), the marketing of the Novavax vaccine derived from another technology, has not generated a resurgence of appointments among health professionals.

The rate of vaccination slowed down sharply in March in the French part and continues to gradually decrease. In February, a 2,6% increase in new first injections was noted, then it was 1% in March and April and has been less than 1% since. In February, 353 new vaccinations were carried out, in March 182 and in June 100.

The same trend is observed in complete primary vaccinations. In February, the rate increased by 3,3% with 416 new injections, then the following month fell by almost half with 218 injections (+1,7%). Since then, growth has not exceeded 1%. In June, 101 vaccinations were registered.
