In one week, the number of people testing positive for covid-19 in the Dutch part was multiplied by 5: 527 cases were confirmed against 101 and 45 the two previous weeks. As of Friday, the number of active cases stood at 543. This brings the total number of cumulative cases since the start of the crisis to 5.
In December, authorities registered 713 new cases compared to 94 in November and 203 in October. As a reminder, the record of contaminations was observed in August with 949 cases. No deaths were reported. Two unvaccinated people are hospitalized.
At the start of the week, the number of positive cases is expected to increase further on both sides of the island. The results of the French side will be published in the coming days.
