Coronavirus / Case on the Costa Magica: what consequences for Saint-Martin?

0

The liner Costa Magica had 2 passengers. The ARS of Martinique confirmed at the end of last week that two people on board were carriers of the coronavirus but that "their state [did not inspire] concern" indicated the prefect of Martinique.

She is a passenger of Finnish origin and a member of the crew from Indonesia. They were put in solitary confinement.

The liner had made a stopover the day before at Sint Maarten where the passengers had been authorized to alight.

Asked about the consequences for Saint-Martin, the ARS territorial delegate said that a "contact tracing would have to be done" according to the procedure, in other words the authorities will conduct an investigation to trace the course of the two people. "We have to decide on the risk that there may be and especially identify the closest people with whom the two cases have been in contact," explained Brice Daverton, admitting that "we cannot find everyone". The two confirmed cases being in Martinique, the investigation is being carried out by the ARS in Fort de France "necessarily linked to that of Saint-Martin".

We questioned the government of Sint Maarten if it was also going to carry out a contact tracing in the Dutch part. As of Friday afternoon, we had not yet received an answer. (soualigapost.com)
