The President of the CCISM, Mrs. Angèle DORMOY, the members of the General Assembly of the CCISM and the members of the staff of the CCISM present their deep condolences to the wife, children and family of Mr. Frédéric ERB, deceased on February 17, 2023.
Fred has had a remarkable career as an entrepreneur in the watchmaking, jewelery and luxury sectors, at the head of a family business which he inherited from his father, Guy ERB, and which he organized to transfer to their children.
Very involved in the influence of Marigot and Saint-Martin as a whole, he was a founding member of numerous associations and federations of traders; he was also consular delegate then elected of the CCI of Basse-Terre in Saint-Martin in 2002 and took part in the creation of the CCISM in 2009 of which he was a member of the Bureau then Vice-President until 2021.
Memory of the tourist and economic development of Marigot, Fred experienced periods of strong growth but also more fragile times, always with the same enthusiasm, the same desire to preserve his art and the same attachment to his shopping district, that of the Marina Port La Royale.
His companies have developed in Saint-Martin, Sint Maarten and Saint Barthélemy. Faithful in professional relations, he knew how to keep his teams close to him, in good times as well as in bad times for business.
With his wife and children, he perpetuated a certain tradition of French luxury, precision and quality work for a demanding and knowledgeable clientele. Her "golden fingers" have created or repaired numerous adornments and jewels worn all over the world.
May this heritage live long in us and for future generations.
Fred was also a committed citizen for his country and for his island. Visionary in his ideas and discreet in the local political landscape, he has greatly contributed to shaping the Saint-Martin of today.
May he receive our recognition for all his years of commitment.
