By order of the prefecture, the edition of Mardis de Grand-Case scheduled for Tuesday, February 21 is canceled. Grand-Case Tuesdays will resume as usual every Tuesday from February 28th.

The organizing team of the Tuesdays of Grand-Case, namely Calypso Event whose presidency is ensured by Chantal Vernusse, was received this Monday, February 20 in the offices of the prefecture in order to approach the thorny possibility of canceling the event. of this Tuesday in view of the lack of staff able to ensure the safety of the population in a busy calendar of activities in this week of carnival. Following the events of last Saturday where shots were fired during the Jouvert parade in Marigot, reporting two minor injuries, the services of the prefecture wished to reinforce security around the festivities linked to Mardi Gras de Galisbay, whose parade will start from 15 p.m. followed by a concert at 19 p.m. and which runs until midnight with the burning of Moomoo. Being unable to ensure security both on Galisbay and on Tuesdays in Grand-Case (from 18 p.m. to 23 p.m.), the prefecture reluctantly decided to issue a ban order for Mardis de Grand-Case of this day: “the concomitance of these events does not make it possible to ensure their simultaneous protection in a satisfactory manner. Under these conditions, the Prefect has decided to prohibit, for security reasons, the gathering and the demonstration “Les Mardis de Grand Case” scheduled for Tuesday February 21, 2023 in parallel with the carnival festivities”. The organizers, including Chantal Vernusse and Corinne Deloche, expressed their deep disappointment with this decision, while sharing the officials' desire to provide a secure environment for the population. Tuesdays in Grand-Case will resume their usual schedule next week, Tuesday February 28 from 18 p.m. _Vx
