BIODIVERSITY: The Ifrecor national committee will meet in Saint-Martin next week

0

Every two years, the Ifrecor national committee (French initiative for coral reefs) meets in plenary session in an overseas community and this year it is in Saint-Martin that the meeting will take place from June 3 to 7 next. The last times that the members had come to the Antilles, it was in 2014 in Martinique and in 2008 in Guadeloupe.

By organizing its plenary meeting in Saint-Martin, the committee wishes to "attract attention" to the island. "It is a way for us to prove to France that Saint-Martin is recovering from the passage of Irma and especially to show that the natural environments were not so impacted by the cyclone, with the exception of the mangroves. in Quartier d'Orléans ”, underlines Nicolas Maslach, the director of the Nature Reserve.

Several field visits and working meetings are planned. (Photo credit: Mazéas Franck, “Poisson parroquet - Antilles 1,” Ifrecor documentation
