Assessment of regional seismicity in June

0

In June 2017, the regional telluric activity displays “a number of earthquakes comparable to the number that has been observed last month”, according to the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Guadeloupe (OVSG). In total, 79 earthquakes of tectonic origin of maximum magnitude 4.1 on the Richter scale were identified within a radius of 450 km around Guadeloupe. With regard to Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, no earthquake was felt during this period. Between Saintes and Dominica, 21 earthquakes were recorded of maximum magnitude 3. Volcanic seismicity is also measured every month. In June, the observatory recorded 49 earthquakes under the Soufrière dome, less than 2 km deep. _EH
