Art in celebration: THE “GIANTS” is… giant!

0

As part of the 2019 edition of Art en Fête, the opening of the “Giants” exhibition was recently held, sculptures made by students from the Northern Islands district.

It is a plastic project around the accumulation and assembly of recycled materials (mainly plastic bottles). While being a predominantly artistic project, the latter was an opportunity to work on oral language, lexicon and plastic language. For some it also made it possible to carry out a class project around the environment and for others to exploit albums of youth.

Many visitors were able to admire majestic, colorful works of various sizes and nature. You can admire some of the works at the Marie Amélie Leydet school as well as in the city of Marigot (Gare maritime, place du Palais de justice and the Jardin de la Collectivité) until May 31, 2019.

We would like to thank all of our partners for their unwavering support, be it financial or logistical, in particular the Lion's Club Oualichi and the Collectivity of Saint Martin.

Congratulations to all and see you next year for other gigantic adventures.

On the evening of the opening, a “People's favorite” vote was organized. The first three winners are:

• Igor the iguana, produced by the SG of the nursery school Evelina Halley

• Marine animals, produced by CE2 from Marie Antoinette Richards school

• The girl and her blanket, produced by the Cp of the Omer Arrondell school

(Thanks to Céline Renger, Educational consultant in visual arts)
