The State and the community of Saint-Martin are mobilizing for the development of the agricultural sectors and the agro-food industry. The objective is to diversify economic activities in Saint-Martin and ensure a share of the food production necessary for the needs of the population. The future of these sectors in Saint-Martin depends on the structuring and coordination of development actions.

To this end, the prefectural decree of July 23, 2018 created in Saint-Martin the committee for strategic orientation and agricultural development (COSDA), in accordance with article L.183-5 of the rural and maritime fishing code. .

This committee, co-chaired by the president of the territorial council and the delegated prefect, is made up of representatives of the territorial council, state services, CCISM, CGSS, the notarial body, veterinarians, hunters, activities marine cultures, associations for the protection of the environment, wildlife and the equestrian sector. It will meet at least twice a year to discuss the strategic directions which should guide agricultural, agro-food and fishery policy in Saint-Martin taking into account the specificities of the community as well as all economic, social and environmental.

In Saint-Martin, COSDA will represent the sole forum for discussion, consultation or decision-making for all subjects relating to agriculture, marine cultures, forests and the rural world. Its implementation is essential and will allow the coordination of the actions of all the actors as well as the interventions of the State and the community in matters of agricultural aid.

The COSDA installation session was held on October 1, 2018 at the Prefecture.

The objectives of this session were:

In 1: to present the missions of COSDA

In 2: to approve the internal regulations

In 3: to define the priority actions and the work program

In 4: to present the projects requesting the EAFRD within the framework of the local action group (LAG)

In 5: to provide various information on the actions in progress.
