It is a big boost for the tourist frequentation of the island. The low-cost American company, Frontier Airlines, made its first direct flights to Sint Maarten on July 10, carrying more than 300 passengers from Miami and Orlando.
As part of the extension of its network from Florida, the American low-cost company has just opened two new lines to Sint Maarten: one from Miami and the other from Orlando. , with one flight per week for each line, carried out every Saturday by an Airbus A320 with 186 seats.
The passengers and crew of these inaugural flights were warmly welcomed by a delegation from the Sint Maarten Ministry of Tourism, representatives of the Saint-Martin Tourist Office, the board of directors and the management team of PJIAE.
The prospect of welcoming more and more visitors to the island is indeed a real opportunity to boost tourist attendance, as welcomed by the President of the Saint Martin Tourist Office, Valérie Damaseau: “The the opening of these new lines is a sign of strong demand for our destination, they constitute a new asset for attracting and retaining tourists, it is a tremendous opportunity for Saint-Martin ”.
An enthusiasm shared by the Minister of Tourism of Sint Maarten, Ludmila de Weever, who welcomed the company Frontier Airlines and welcomed the local mobilization: “This is excellent news today for the destination. Over 300 passengers arrived from Miami and Orlando on an affordable flight. We are extremely grateful for the work of the St. Maarten Tourism Bureau and the entire airport team, from management to baggage handlers. Welcome passengers to Friendly Island ”.
Princess Juliana Airport CEO Brian Mingo hailed "a new economic resource for Sint Maarten thanks to this partner". “Miami has become a hub in our airline network, PJIAE is growing as well as the number of destinations we serve. So it made sense for everyone to also establish a link with Orlando ”.
