On Saturday March 24, a road police operation was carried out by the motorized brigade of Saint-Martin with the support of the intervention platoon of the Republican Guard at the Hope Estate roundabout.
Carried out from 20 p.m. to midnight, the primary goal of this operation was prevention. In fact, the gendarmes displayed indulgences and discernment on this occasion, reporting only the most serious and accident-causing offenses. Four driving license defects, two driving under the influence of an alcoholic state and one driving under the influence of drugs were thus noted. This type of operation will be repeated in the coming weeks, particularly in the most accident-prone slots, in order to stem the increase in traffic accidents observed in recent weeks. Since the beginning of the year, the gendarmerie has noted 11 bodily traffic accidents in Saint-Martin, causing 13 wounded and 1 killed.
