Babit Point (Oyster Pond) now has its orientation table

The coastal conservatory inaugurated a new orientation table at Babit Point (Oyster Pond) in the presence of Nicolas Maslach, director of the Nature Reserve.

The free union association of Oyster Pond had voted in 2013 to transfer to the Conservatoire du littoral a parcel of 4,7 ha which it owned on the Babit Point site. This new acquisition was in addition to the protection of a 1,8 ha plot that the Conservatoire had acquired in April 2013, from owner-sellers. Thanks to these two acquisitions, the remarkable site of Babit Point, which in particular has many Tête-à-l'Anglais cacti, has thus been permanently preserved. The development of the site also included the installation of an orientation table which should have been installed last September but whose work took a few weeks late following Irma and which could finally be completed in early March 2018. The Conservatoire also inaugurated its new premises located at Hope Estate: “Before Irma we were hosted by the Nature Reserve at Anse Marcel. But (taking into account the damage caused by the hurricane, note) now it's the opposite, ”says Anne-Marie Bouillé. (Source: www.soualigapost.com)
