2016, a hot and less dry year

0

The Antilles-Guyana interregional direction of Météo France published its climate summary for 2016. We learn that the year was hot and less dry than normal for Saint-Martin, Saint-Barthélemy and Guadeloupe. “In the Northern Islands, 2016 was on average one of the warmest years since the start of the measures”, specifies the institution. As for the month of October, it was noteworthy: “The scarcity of tropical waves and the weakness of the trade winds are favorable to high daytime temperatures and monthly heat records are broken on the Northern Islands.” Finally, with regard to rainfall, “annual accumulations remain below normal (only 770 mm in Gustavia), but the severe drought of previous years is over”. _EH
