Environment: The water production plant in Galisbay will be rehabilitated

0

The water and sanitation establishment of Saint-Martin (EEASM) wishes to launch upgrading and optimization works for the drinking water production plant whose treatment facilities have been set up in 2006.

Located in Galisbay, it was managed until the end of 2018 by the UCDEM, a company with which the EEASM had signed a public service delegation (DSP) to ensure the production of water, which was then bought and distributed by the General of water (GDE).

At the end of 2018, the EEASM terminated the DSP with the UCDEM in advance at the same time as GDE terminated, also in advance, its contract with the EEASM. Since then, the two activities - production and distribution - have been managed by a single company, Saur. On the other hand, the installations belong to COM / EEASM.

The planned works aim in particular to technically secure the installations, to optimize them and to increase the production capacity which is today 9 cubic meters per day, or approximately 000 m900 / h of raw water.

As a reminder, drinking water is produced from seawater which is desalted using membrane reverse osmosis technology. The water is pumped directly into the sea via a well then is filtered according to various processes before being re-mineralized. It is then sent to two tanks of 5 m000 each, then to the various distribution networks and the 3 subscribers.

The main stages of production in Saint-Martin:

• Sea water intake

• Acidification station

• Low pressure pumping

• Primary filtration

• Secondary filtration

• Overpressure

• Osmosis treatment    reverse

• First storage

• Remineralization

• Ultraviolet disinfection

• Bleach injection
