Zika: the epidemic is declining

In the Caribbean region, “the trend of decreasing virus circulation continues”, indicates the latest epidemiological bulletin from the Institute for Public Health Surveillance (InVS). In Saint-Martin, the zika epidemic is on the decline: “The Committee of Experts on Infectious and Emerging Diseases (CEMIE) will meet soon to discuss the evolution of the epidemiological situation.” Since the emergence of the virus, 3.185 clinically suggestive cases have been seen in city medicine and 80 emergency visits have been recorded. Concerning pregnant women, the infection was confirmed in 44 of them: “Almost one in two women has already given birth. No congenital malformation related to the virus has been reported. ” _EH
