LOCAL LIFE: Meeting with the inhabitants of Quartier d'Orléans and Saint-Louis

The operation "The Community at the heart of the districts", initiated by the community of Saint-Martin and led by its Local Council for Security and the Prevention of Delinquency (CLSPD), aims to meet the inhabitants, young people in particular, in the neighborhoods in order to listen to them and discuss their expectations.

After Colombier and Quartier d'Orléans, it was the turn of Saint-Louis on Tuesday 20 December to receive the Collectivité under the large tamarind tree. All neighborhoods will be visited by the end of 2023.

The operation stems from the strong political will of President Louis Mussignton  and his team, who have promised the population more proximity and more social ties.

"No one should be left by the wayside", President Louis Mussington often repeats during his speeches.

Thus, as of last August, Senator Annick Petrus and Martine Beldor, Territorial Councilor in charge of employment, training, apprenticeship and integration, took up their pilgrim's staff to meet the inhabitants in the districts, surrounded by our institutional partners: the Local Mission, Pôle Emploi, the actors of the integration of young people furthest from employment, like EME, Tout est vert, ACED or again CSI/RESPIT.

Their first base was Colombier, an outlying area where many young people live in search of professional and social integration.

At the end of this operation, 6 young people were able to find a job thanks to the partnership between the Collectivity and the company “Tout est vert”, managed by Mr. Wilnick Desormaux.

Four other young people, on the strength of this dynamic, were also able to find a job thanks to the support of the local Mission and the Pôle Emploi and their determination to return to working life. Other young people are currently in vocational training or in the process of integration (professional remobilization).

Young people are waiting for these close encounters. This is why the Collectivity did not wait to organize meetings in Quartier d'Orléans and St Louis, starting in December 2022. All neighborhoods will be visited by the end of 2023.

The Collectivity wanted to send them a message of hope. Privileged contacts were established between the elected officials, the organizations present and the young people, in order to provide them with the necessary assistance for a better future.

The Senator, Annick Petrus, as well as the Territorial Councilor, Martine Beldor, are committed to mobilizing the necessary means and resources so that territorialized projects, carried by young people and for young people, can see the light of day in 2023.
