Local life: Grants awarded to several local associations to preserve the environment

With regard to the various fields of competence of the Collectivity of Saint-Martin, the associations represent an essential link in the implementation of its sectoral policies, particularly in terms of environmental awareness in the broad sense of the term.

For the sake of efficiency, these actors are involved in the organization and implementation of environmental awareness projects, selective sorting, the popularization of knowledge or the beautification of their living environment.

 

Awareness of Selective Sorting:

• ACED carries the “One Color – One Action for the inhabitants” project, which consists of supporting the implementation of selective sorting in homes with large families.

The second project is to organize cleaning campaigns.

• The “Recycling” Association proposes, for its part, to collect and recover organic waste in the Quartier d'Orléans sector, to provide training on composting techniques to young unemployed people in the district and to promote the commercial development of products with individuals and hoteliers.

• The association's grant application Lily's Tropical Garden is twofold: one part for the operation of the association and another dedicated to the “Du Vert comme Décors” project. Beyond an action along the water for educational purposes and to raise awareness of the environment and biodiversity.

 

The popularization of science and awareness of natural heritage

• The Association "Seafood" has been distributing bilingual age-appropriate nature coloring or activity books for several years to all students in all preschools, elementary and middle schools located in the Neighborhood of Orleans and Sandy Ground.

• The Association “Metimer” would like to organize an event for World Whale Day.

• Association “Solidarity respite” proposes to collect and clean the mangroves of Quartier d'Orléans.

 

Improvement of the living environment, environmental awareness

• Association “Sandy Ground on the Move Insertion” proposes to renew an action carried out in 2021 to raise awareness of the environment by deploying visuals, setting up workshops, raising awareness of cleanliness, etc.

• Association “The Ancestral Heritage Trail” aims to create a collaborative vegetable garden and the development of a landscaped garden, the drilling of a well and the installation of pumping equipment

Stray animal management

• Association “Soualiga Animal Lovers” submits a request for a grant in order to be able to deploy a campaign to sterilize stray cats.

 

On December 8, the executive council decided to approve the allocation of grants to associations for the year 2022, for a total amount of 122 euros:
