Local life: Good news for the people of Saint-Martin!

0

After the successive passage of hurricanes IRMA, JOSE and MARIA, numerous human and material resources were used to allow a return to normal as soon as possible. The gradual resumption of economic, social and daily life in Saint-Martin is confirmed!

AIR TRANSPORT :

- Grand-Case airport once again welcomes commercial flights from 07 a.m. to 19 p.m. For any information relating to flights, contact the two companies (Air Caraïbes and Air Antilles Express).

However, Juliana Airport (Sint-Maarten) remains closed to all commercial activity.

ROAD NETWORKS:

- The main and secondary axes of the island are clear and accessible.

In addition, clearing and removal operations are continuing at a sustained pace; all bulky sheets and household waste still present will be disposed of by the end of next week.

WATER & SANITATION

(Tap water is back!)

- Seven public self-service fountains, sanitary water (non-potable) have been set up in the following sectors: Sandy Ground, Marigot (stadium), Concordia (basketball court), Grand-Case, Cul- roundabout de-Sac, Orleans Quarter, Oyster Pound. New points are coming.

- Tap water gradually returns. This water is not drinkable. It should be used as sanitary water which can be used for washing and washing. Only bottled water remains drinkable.

- You can make your water drinkable by boiling for at least 5 minutes in a container with a lid.

- ARS checks are underway to determine its potability.

- Pending results, only bottled water may be used for drinking, cooking and brushing teeth.

- If your water has a color or odor, do not use it. Let it flow until it returns to normal.

- The available volumes are still low. Don't waste it. It must be used for hygiene. Washing cars and filling swimming pools is prohibited.

If the gradual return of tap water in certain areas of the island has given the inhabitants a bit of a balm, know that it remains unfit for consumption! _AF
