Towards a resumption of the covid-19 epidemic on the island?

The number of active cases of covid-19 on the whole island is 18: 16 partly Dutch and 2 partly French. This is a level equivalent to that observed during the week preceding the peak of the epidemic (early April) and the two weeks following the peak.

As a reminder, at the end of March 12 cases had been observed in one week in part French and 4 in part Dutch, then in April Sint Maarten had confirmed 15 new cases for two consecutive weeks.

The resumption of circulation of the virus on the island took place at the end of June: last week three cases were confirmed and 16 this week, all by the Dutch part which had not recorded any for several consecutive weeks in May and June .

The health authorities have indicated that in part French the patients who recently tested positive were people who had traveled, which is apparently not the case in part Dutch, most of the new patients were infected locally.

In total, 137 cases have been confirmed on the island: 94 partly Dutch and 43 partly French (not counting the 3 repatriated tourists). 102 people were declared cured and 18 deaths observed (15 partly Dutch and 3 partly French). (soualigapost.com)
