Lagoonies Bar (Saturday January 6 at 19 p.m.): Last planking in costume with Marcel alias "Le Pirate"!

0

After thirty-three years spent on the "Friendly Island", Marcel alias "The Pirate" gets his last row of reamed cannonballs, Saturday evening, from 19pm, at the Lagoonies Bar.

A little history: At the time of the sailing navy, these rowed balls were attached in pairs to a chain. They were put in a 24 gun pointed upwards, so as to shoot the rigging and sails. Everything collapsed, smashing the deck and the sailors. The boat was no longer controllable!

"Irma" did the same on the Pirate's Lair, a real beautiful Creole more than a hundred years old who belonged to a famous Saint-Martin, Captain of beautiful schooners of the time; Nono Richardson.

When I visited it 25 years ago it was a complete ruin and I fell in love with it. Very skillful with my hands, I made it beautiful for me. I loved him so much. I slept well in her arms, my best dreams… She brought me a lot of happiness and to the other people who lived with me. I think she was one of my best "girls", sweet and not annoying! Especially for old hands of my kind!

Although I have always loved life, I forgive easily. But there… I have great difficulty in granting my forgiveness! Irma has swallowed everything up and left me nothing of my memories ...

I was born on March 21, 1939, a child of war; of the storms that I suffered, I crossed them! My friends, you see, these big storms that hurt, bring good afterwards.

I share with you some principles that have marked my existence ...

The first: you have to be strong in the face of adversity, never give up and know how to wait… good things always end up happening!

The second: you have to believe in life, and love it. Sometimes she does not make a gift, but she is there, beautiful and with us.

Of course you have to know how to take it well ...

I waited ! And voila, the good has finally arrived. “Irma” decided me to leave St Martin for my old age and join my 8 year old grandson Shan, my daughter Chris & my son-in-law Fab to their delight.

The father and the grandfather that I am, the last pirate of the Caribbean! Already "Lenny" in 1999 had sunk "Good Hope", my pirate ship of the time, well known for its adventures!

On January 11, I will leave St Martin for New Caledonia and join my family.

It is not a farewell to St Martin but a goodbye…

I love Saint-Martin, and the Saint-Martinois are a very welcoming people.

Good luck Daniel.

See you Saturday January 6 at the Lagoonies Bar! By 1000 ports of the thunder of God, this is the last attack, all in costume!
