TOURISM: Update of the classification of 8 hotels by the COM

0

At the end of June, the executive council renewed the classification of eight hotels on the French side. The Centr'Hôtel in Marigot has 2 stars, the establishments Esmeralda, La Plantation, Orient Beach, Palm Court in Orient Bay are classified 4 stars as well as the Grand Case Beach Club or the Balcons d'Oyster Pond. La Samanna in Baie Longue is the only 5-star establishment.

This classification is valid for a period of five years. It is specific to the Collectivity of Saint-Martin. Having tourism skills, she had to set it up and define its criteria. For this, it based itself on the national specifications which it adapted; certain criteria thus differ from those in mainland France (air conditioning/heating, etc.).

Appearing in the tourism code of Saint-Martin, the criteria are classified into three chapters: equipment, customer service and accessibility/sustainable development. They are 127 in number but not all of them are compulsory depending on the number of stars.

Joining the ranking is not compulsory. Institutions wishing to do so must apply. They are then inspected by an audit firm and their file is submitted to a classification committee. (soualigapost.com)
