Tourism: Copa Airlines back in Juliana!

0

After two years of interruption linked to the health crisis, the national airline of Panama has resumed its rotations to Princess Juliana airport. An excellent opportunity for travelers from Central and South America wishing to stay in St. Maarten.

On Wednesday June 1, the inaugural flight marking the resumption of Copa Airlines rotations between Panama City and Sint Maarten landed on the tarmac at Juliana. The crew of the Boeing 737 and its 90 passengers were warmly welcomed by the Tourist Office of Saint Martin, represented by its president Valérie Damaseau, the Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labor, Omar Ottley as well as representatives of Sint Maarten Tourism Bureau and Princess Juliana Airport.

Delighted to find its Latin American tourists, the Friendly Island had treated its welcome with the musical atmosphere of a steel pan group, dancers in traditional costume and a typical Saint-Martin breakfast served to each of the passengers!

A Gateway to Latin America

Copa Airlines now offers 2 flights per week, on Wednesdays and Fridays: arrival at SXM at 11:20 a.m., departure to Panama City at 12:20 p.m. The resumption of these rotations is an excellent opportunity for Latin American customers.

Issues underlined by Ms. Damaseau during her welcome speech: “This connection is the gateway from Latin America to our destination and the promise of many visitors that we are honored to receive. In addition, this flight positions our island as a departure point for all of Latin America for residents of Saint-Martin and the surrounding islands, strengthening our tourist and commercial relations”. In 2h57mn, the Panama City / Sint Maarten flights represent an excellent service to the island for all the countries of Latin and Central America. A very attractive connectivity for our destination, attentive to this tourist market which is opening up again after two years of pandemic.

A well-targeted promotion

The Saint-Martin Tourist Office is represented in Brazil, Colombia, Argentina and Chile. These markets themselves benefit from good air service from the major cities, offering ease of connection with Panama. The competitive pricing policy practiced by Copa Airlines should help attract this Latin American clientele wishing to stay on the island. In order to properly target this tourist market, the Tourist Office has therefore sealed a close collaboration with Copa Airlines to boost the notoriety of the destination. “Discovery” trips will thus be offered to the press and tourism professionals in the coming weeks, in order to strengthen trade relations with the countries concerned. Links that have already been forged from May 3 to 6, during the participation of the Saint-Martin Tourist Office in the ILTM (International Luxury Travel Market) show in Sāo Paulo.
