On Wednesday, June 1, the official opening date of the hurricane season, the Collectivity of Saint-Martin brought together the players in the field, in the presence of President Louis Mussington, Senator Annick Pétrus, vice-presidents, elected authorities, the representative of the prefect Julien Marie and all the crisis management partners.

The Department of Major Risks of the COM presented the organization and logistics deployed by the territorial institution in connection with the prefecture which pilots the ORSEC plan.

The Community through the Territorial Safeguard Plan (PTS) described the actions implemented before and after the passage of a hurricane. Post-Irma feedback has enabled all aspects of crisis management to be taken into account and new means to be implemented.

Each citizen is invited to prepare, to read the list of hurricane shelters and all the information and instructions to know about hurricanes and to protect themselves well.

You can find all the useful information on the site of the community (Major Risks section): www.com-saint-martin.fr

Notices to the attention professionals

To hoteliers, condominium trustees

The Collectivity of Saint-Martin calls on your professionalism and asks you to undertake the work of pruning and cutting plants in anticipation of a cyclonic phenomenon. It is the responsibility of professionals to take all necessary measures with their service providers to evacuate green waste, bulky waste and all waste that may be dangerous in the event of strong winds towards the Grandes Cayes eco-site.

Green waste, rubble, bulky items and other rubbish deposited near garbage shelters or along the road could represent a danger for the population.

It is appealed to the good citizenship and the sense of responsibility of all the people concerned by the implementation of this cleaning.

For construction professionals

It is requested in anticipation of a hurricane event to secure all your sites (crane, containers, various materials) from ORANGE vigilance.

To garage managers and mechanics

At the start of the hurricane season, health and safety measures are essential. The president and his Rescue Organizing Committee remind garage owners, mechanics and sheet metal workers that the removal from the vicinity of their establishment of all metal waste that can be dangerously fatal, in the event of strong winds, is an essential gesture.

These preventive measures must be taken from the first phases of vigilance in the event of a cyclonic phenomenon.

It is appealed to the good citizenship and the sense of responsibility of all the people concerned by the implementation of this cleaning.

To service station managers

It is brought to the attention of the owners and managers of service stations that from the RED vigilance phase, it is their responsibility to proceed with the closure of their establishment and the decommissioning of any automatic fuel dispenser.
